Looks like the Albert Kennedy Trust, an organisation which supports homeless young LGBT people has now been truned into an organisation for homeless young LG people, following JB's article in the Guardian on 17 December;
http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2008/dec/17/equality-adoption-lesbian
From reading this it would appear that AKT only helps LG kids and only has a shortage of lesbian foster-carers. I bet they have a real shortage of T foster carers in reality, but JB doesn't think we exist.
BTW she also defines the T as transsexual. I find this an insult. T is not just for transsexual, it means transgendered.

"Talking Cures"
The famous "Talking cures" bit from the Hecklers debate;
http://www.pfc.org.uk/node/1544
She has since said that she does not mean "reparative therapy" (also known as "aversion therapy") when she says "talking cures" However it is not clear what "talking cures" is supposed to mean. If it means "You shouldn't be trans and you shouldn't have a sex change because it is wrong because gender is only a social construction" then I personally can't see much difference between that at reparative therapy.
Reparative therapy has been known to cause trauma, depression and suicidal tendencies in its victims.
If she means "I understand your pain but you still can't have a sex change because gender is a social construct not a biologically determined situation." then I don't see how that is going to help transgendered people, especially transsexuals.
I think there seems to be a recurring theme here; namely that there is a problem with social constructionism. It clearly cannot explain away the presence of transgendered people. Our mere existence would seem to demonstrate its inadequacy as a theory of human behaviour. if social constructionism were correct then the only trans people would be those who were deliberately brought up to be the opposite sex by their parents.
Maybe this is the reason why JB is so opposed to transgendered people?

One of my favourites- leave me alone!
This one can be wheeled out and used time and time again
"I just want to be left alone."
But without any of Greta Garbo's elegance. That's the best way to be left alone, to write an article in a national newspaper complaining of people who you have been dissing, a real gem
